TAKE A BREAK !!!!

The brain gets bombarded with so much information it goes on overload more often than we think. It might be a good idea to take a long lunch hour or even go for a vacation. Let’s leave that up to your Boss and your Family. Today let’s talk about getting a great 30 seconds of super, powerful, magic a couple times in the morning and then again in the afternoon. Top brain experts claim this series of two morning and two afternoon moves from your chair to your feet will lower sickness, illness and chronic disease by as much as 45% or more. Folks we are talking about diabetes type 2, obesity, Alzheimer’s, dementia, strokes, heart attacks and yes even cancer.

OK, now you are standing up behind you chain. Smile, run in place for 30 seconds, take 10 deep breaths, sit down again and go back to work. The brain researchers will have a hissy fit of joy. They will use words I can’t say, nor spell and they are all good. You will feel better and be more happy, productive, and healthy.

Why don’t we do this simple 30-second exercise? It is not in the HR manual, and it is silly. Negative thoughts are at least 10 times more powerful than positive thoughts. Remember, we were all born naked, scared and dumb. Getting up, standing behind a chair and running in place looks silly on social media. Doing this silly 30-second exercise requires you telling your brain that you are in charge and will survive.

One thing is for sure. Sitting in a chair all day long makes me grumpy. My butt gets sore, I lose concentration, and I do not do good work. That is my brain telling me “TAKE A BREAK”.

Most experts agree that if you want to work efficiently, get up and take a break about twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon. Some talk about going to the water cooler, sitting on a big ball, or meditating. I like to get in motion, so I run in place for 30 seconds, then sit down and focus on my work. Reading email, texting, and social media are not in the 30 second run in place.

This 30-second routine has become a way of life.  When writing I set the timer for 90 minutes. When driving, I pull in to a safe place and run in place near my truck.

Let’s talk about deep breathing. This is a part of yoga, and that has been around for a long time. One of my mentors is a nutritionist. She is also a runner and very healthy. She and her sisters all breath deep. Why. Their mother is a long time Yoga instructor. I have learned to take deep breaths. I don’t think you can lose your temper when taking deep breaths. Everything we have talked about today does not require drugs, medical bills, nor sugar drinks.
