THE BIG FOUR

  Vince Lombardi and John Wooden were the best at their professions. We still study what they did and how they did it. Both told us to become a master of the fundamentals. Doctor Oz was asked how he was so successful in doing so many things and he said “I’ve figured out that every endeavor you do has a few vital functions. All you have to do is figure out what they are and become excellent at them.”

Here are the four vital functions to live a healthy and happy life. There two fuels we all must have and two functions we all must do, or we will die. Those are very important vital functions, so let’s call them THE BIG FOUR. Join me and become excellent at all four.

                                                                       WATER

Drink more water and less sugar drinks every day. Drink more water and hardly any sugar drinks every day. Drink more water and no sugar drinks every day.

Join me and become excellent at Vital Function Number one. Let’s call it WA.

                                                                        FOOD

Eat six or more fresh or fast frozen fruits and veggies and nuts every day, and eat or snack on them more than three times every day. The combination of lots of water and smaller helpings will become a habit and replace eating junk food and you will eat less and less every day.

Join me and become excellent at Vital Function Number two. Let’s call it FO.

                                                                         WALK

Get out and walk briskly every day, working up to at least twenty to forty minutes. Keep track and aim for 10,000 steps a day.

Join me and become excellent at Vital Function Number three. Let’s call it WA

SLEEP

Shut down every day, get in bed, practice breathing deeply and sleep no less than six and a half hours aiming for eight every day.

Join me and become excellent at Vital Function Number four. Let’s call it SL.

We are almost on the road to a transformation from a society who accepts sickness, illness, and chronic disease to a life of healthy, happy living.

     THE WAFOWASL

 One more step to go. When you have been sitting for a couple of hours, stand up. Blow out all the air using the muscles at the base of your gut, take a deep breath while running in place. Wiggle and waggle your arms and fingers, smile, laugh and yawn. Keep this up for 30 seconds. Then sit down and get back to doing what you were doing. The brain doctors will have a hissy fit of joy. They use words I can’ t say nor spell, but they are good. You will reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s, dementia, strokes, heart attacks and other bad stuff by a bunch.

I call this dance the WAFOWASL.

This is not magic, it is daily discipline. Vince Lombardi said. “The key to winning is to be brilliant at the basics.” Let us all become brilliant at being HEALTHY AND HAPPY.
